Jennie Phillips, MA Ed Tech, PhD Candidate | Lead Consultant
Jennie is a PhD Candidate in Leadership Higher and Adult Education (LHAE), Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) and the Dynamics of Global Change program at Munk School of Global Affairs, University of Toronto. She is also a Doctoral Fellow with the Citizen Lab at University of Toronto. Her research examines the citizen-driven response to crises in cyberspace. She focuses specifically on risk and aims to identify a distributed approach to developing crisis resilience in digital crisis response networks. With a Masters in Education Technology from Concordia University, she has professional experience in emergency management, training and technology in the public sector with departments including the Privy Council Office / Prime Ministers Office and the Department of Foreign Affairs, the private and non-profit sector both locally and overseas in Swaziland and India, and with her company ellips design + consulting. She holds 8 years experience working in Emergency Management and over 12 years working in Education and ICT. He serves on the board of Directors of Médecins Sans Frontières Canada and has undertaken humanitarian missions as a logistician, project manager and deputy head of mission in Papua New Guinea, Nigeria, Sri Lanka and Syria. Prior to his humanitarian work, Chris was a Team Leader at Zurich Risk Services and an Assistant Vice President at Marsh Risk Consulting. He has advised hundreds of corporations, local government entities and non-profits on their risk management, specializing in security and protection of people and property from physical harm.
